About this ranking

This ranking orders New South Wales suburbs from the lowest latest median house price upward. It uses the price attached to each suburb in the suburb dataset, derived from state Valuer-General records, alongside ABS Census population data. Suburbs without a recorded price and those with fewer than 200 residents are removed before sorting, so a missing observation cannot masquerade as a bargain and tiny areas do not dominate the list. The period shown on the page is the newest price period present in the state response, although individual suburbs may have different transaction vintages. A low median describes the middle observed sale price, not the cost of every dwelling. It does not adjust for property type, land size, condition, sales volume or distance from services, and it is neither a valuation nor a recommendation.
