About this ranking

This South Australian ranking compares a suburb's latest median house price with 52 times its ABS median weekly household income. Lower price-to-income multiples appear first. the suburb dataset joins Valuer-General-derived prices and Census demographics, and only records with positive values for both measures and at least 200 residents are eligible. This prevents missing inputs and tiny localities from producing false affordability leaders. The price period displayed is the freshest in the state response; income remains tied to its less frequent Census vintage, so the ratio mixes collection dates by design. It is a broad spatial indicator, not a mortgage calculator. Interest rates, deposits, transaction costs, debts, household composition, dwelling characteristics and income inequality are outside the measure. The ordering does not establish what any household can borrow or recommend where it should live.
